Personalities

Personality is every human in the world. Everyone is admired by someone else but some people are adored for a special reason. It may be for an emotional reason – when a child admires his parents and members of the family. Famous people are loved by their fans for wonderful performances or for their beauty. I think the most admirable person should be someone who really achieved something special in his life. Not only a professional success but also something more natural – the rescue of a human life, the discovery of a new medicine,  the protection of animals, ethnic group or fighting for human rights. It could be also someone who is good at his job or who has a specific talent.

In my opinion, every single person who does something for others without expectation of reward is an admirable person.

Personality is not only the person as a whole but it is also the soul and spirit of the person. It’s the complex of our qualities.

The personality I would like to describe is Sir Winston Churchill. This men was a famous politician and statesman known for his leadership of the United Kingdom during World War II. Widely regarded as one of the greatest wartime leaders of the century, he served as Prime Minister twice. He was also a well-known orator, an officer in the British Army, a historian, a writer, and an artist. He was the first person to be made an Honorary Citizen of the United States and also the only Prime Minister who received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953.

After the resignation of Neville Chamberlain in 1940, Churchill became Prime Minister. Churchill took the lead in warning about Nazi Germany. His steadfast refusal to consider defeat, surrender, or a compromise peace helped inspire British resistance, especially during the difficult early days of the war when Great Britain stood alone in its active opposition to Hitler. Churchill was particularly noted for his speeches and radio broadcasts, which helped inspire the British people. He led Britain as Prime Minister until victory over Nazi Germany had been secured.

Churchill sustained very good relationship with the United States of America – especially with Franklin Roosevelt. Churchill had 12 strategic conferences with Roosevelt which covered many war policies.

He was also a vehement anti-Communist, he didn’t agree with Stalin and he concluded that the UK and the US must stop the Red Army.

Churchill was also a very good painter and he had many secondary professions because the salary of the MP’ s wasn’ t satisfying.

He was a very good writer, too. Writing a novel, two biographies, three volumes of memoirs, and several histories in addition to his many newspaper articles. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953 „for his mastery of historical and biographical description as well as for brilliant oratory in defending exalted human values“.

He was appreciated with many honours and prizes and honorary degrees.

Churchill is widely regarded as being among the most influential persons in British history.

Although someone could say he was only a politician I think in those times, during the Second World War,  it was very difficult to hold any position in the government. In my opinion, he leaded the country the best way he could and he took advantage of his position to aware western Europe from dangerous regimes. I admire a lot of people but from politicians he is one of the most admirable one of our history.
